Nearly one million Romanian tourists visited Bulgaria in 2025
Bulgaria recorded a record influx of Romanian tourists in 2025, according to the latest figures from the National Institute of Statistics. Nearly one million overnight stays in Bulgarian accommodation establishments were registered from Romania, representing an 8.5% increase compared to 2024.
This marks the highest number of Romanian tourist registrations and shows a remarkable 51.2% increase compared to 2019 levels, before the pandemic. The Minister of Tourism, Miroslav Borsos, highlighted these results as proof of the ministry’s targeted efforts to position Bulgaria as a preferred destination through strategic marketing and strong international partnerships.
He noted that Romanian visitors are drawn to Bulgaria for its diversity, quality, and authentic experiences, signaling both recognition and a responsibility to continuously enhance the country’s tourism offering, Novinite.com reports.
In this context, Bulgaria is participating in the Târgul de Turism al României in Bucharest. The country’s national stand, presented in a new and fresh visual concept, emphasizes the blend of tradition and modernity.
Special attention is given to cultural heritage, including traditional crafts and the internationally recognized Bulgarian bagpipe, which was added to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2025.
Bulgaria’s participation in TTR 2026 is part of a broader strategy to strengthen its presence in key international markets and promote sustainable growth within the tourism sector.
